FAQ

Holiday checklist questions, answered.

What is the Max Retail holiday checklist?

The holiday checklist is three steps to get your store ready for the busiest selling season of the year: list before Black Friday, keep orders moving through the holidays, and start January ahead. Sellers on Max Retail see at least a 30% lift in sales over the holidays, so the sooner your inventory is live, the more of that lift you get.

When is the deadline to list for Black Friday?

Friday, November 13. It is the first deadline on the holiday checklist. This is a heavy time of year for retailers listing, so to guarantee your listings are included in our Pink Friday through Small Business Saturday promotions, you must submit them by the 13th. Cyber Monday has its own deadline, Tuesday, November 24. Every listing deadline is on our Snagged and Bagged November events calendar.

What should I list for the holidays?

Anything past-season that is still on your floor or in the back room. Apparel, footwear, handbags, jewelry, eyewear and accessories all sell online over the holidays. Outerwear, boots, sweaters, dresses and jeans are what holiday shoppers are looking for right now.

Your local customers want new holiday arrivals. Online shoppers want the brands you already carry, at a great price.

Why should I set a Price Drop on older inventory?

A Price Drop on anything 60+ days old puts it in front of shoppers who are hunting for a deal on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Recouping your cost now beats carrying it into spring.

How do online shoppers find my inventory?

Max Retail lists your inventory across our partner channels, in front of 400 million online shoppers. Different climates, different calendars. Your dead stock is their favorite brand. They buy it at a great price. You get a sale.

What should I keep on the floor, and what should I list online?

Keep your new holiday arrivals on the floor for your local customers. List what they have already seen: past-season stock, broken sizes and anything 60+ days old. Online shoppers have never seen it, so to them it is new.

Do I need to ship my inventory to Max Retail?

No. Your inventory stays in your store, and you keep selling it locally. When a piece sells online, you approve the order and ship it straight to the shopper.

What happens if I don't ship an order in time?

Unshipped orders cancel after 5 days. We suggest scheduling a USPS pickup if you cannot get to the post office within 2 business days.

When is the last day to ship for Christmas delivery?

Thursday, December 17. It is the last shipping date on the holiday checklist, and anything you ship by then should arrive before Christmas.

What do I do with what didn't sell over the holidays?

List it on Max Retail in early January. Instead of marking it down on your floor, put that money toward your spring buys. Keep this holiday checklist handy and start the new year ahead.
